  • Popis: Two powerful and noble families of Verona, the Montagues and the Capulets, hate each other. Despite this, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet fall in love, and she refuses to marry Tybalt. They secretly marry, but Tybalt, who got wind of this secret bond, provokes Romeo: a fierce duel takes place and Tybalt is wounded. Successively Romeo is banished from Verona. During his absence Juliet’s father, ignoring her marriage to Romeo, forces her to marry Tybalt. Juliet asks for help the friar who married them secretly. He suggests her to drink a narcotic which will cause her to fall like dead for a period of twenty four hours. As Romeo learns the sad news, he covertly returns to Verona, and in front of her coffin he kills himself. At the same moment Juliet wakes up, and at the sight of Romeo dying, she also assassinates herself. The video is a copy from the film print held by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema and previously restored by the EYE Filmmuseum: 35mm, positive, acetate, 653 m, 32’ at 18 fps, colour (Desmetcolor), Dutch intertitles, silent.
